Comets are formed by the composition of the remaining elements at the time of the formation of the planets. In ancient times the solar system was recognized as the planets. There are some chances that the comets and asteroids seem like the same thing appear, but there is a great difference in their composition. Comets are a mixture of snow, dust, and stones.
1. Halley’s Comet
This comet appears in the intervals of every 74-79 years from Earth. It can also be seen with naked eyes. Last time this comet was seen in 1986. This comet appears in less time than other known comets. Because of this, it is also called a short-period comet. In the long period comet, come in the way that they spend thousands of years in completing their orbital. There is a possibility that the Halley comet was a long-period comet in the beginning, but due to the gravitational of the large planets, the path was affected. The weight of the Halley comet is 2.2 × 1014 kg.
2. Comet Hale-Bopp
Comet Hale-Bopp is one of the brightest comets ever seen in decades. This Halley is smaller than this comet. the dimension of this comet is 40-80 km. It was seen with naked eyes for 18 months, due to this Comet Hale-Bopp was observed for a long time. Due to being bright, it came visible in 1996. The Comet Hale-Bopp had a specific type (sodium tail) of the tail. The sodium tail consisted of neutral autos. The length of its tail can extend up to millions of kilometers in length.
3. Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9
If you see televisions shows related to the Cosmos, then you must know Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9. Jupiter’s gravitational field is very large, with the effect of which the Earth is preserved. Jupiter gravity caught the comet shoemaker-levy 9 20-30 years ago. As a result, this comet has now collapsed. This Jupiter and comet collided and collapsed.
4. Schwassmann-Wachmann 3
Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 is a periodic comet visible again after a certain time. It can be seen in every 5 years. The comet was seen last time on March 16, 2017. It runs in its path at a speed of about 39.9 km / s.
5. Comet Hyakutake
Comet Hyakutake passed in the year 1996 in close near to the Earth. The nucleus of this comet is about 4.8 km. this is one of the closest comets to the Earth in the past two centuries. This comet was discovered on 31 January 1996 and in the same year, visible to the naked eyes. The observation by Roast satellite shows that this comet was emitting X -rays.
6. Comet Encke
Comet Encke is categorized under orbital periods of less than 200 years. It completes the orbit of the Sun once in every 3.3 years. The diameter of this comet is 4.8 km. It was last seen on 10 March 2017.
