10 Terms Related To Industrial Power Plants | part-2

This is second part of the industrial terms. before you read second part click here to navigate to part one. in this post, we focused on the extensions required in power plant. industry require a well-skilled operator and well-known engineers it could not possible without knowing the basic components. hence this list provides very basic components of any industry.

11.Condenser: Condenser is a mechanical device to condense a substance from gaseous to the liquid state, it involves heat transfer process. The number of variations and designs are varying with size and capacity of the power plant. the condenser is also used in air conditioners.





12.Economizer: economizers are heat exchanger device used to reduce energy consumption. In boilers, economizers are heat exchange devices that heat fluids, usually water, up to but not normally beyond the boiling point of that fluid.

13.Lubrication: Lubrication is applied to reduce friction. Thermal power plants and other power plants require high-performance lubricants. Oil sensors used to determine the moisture level, and high-performance lubrications is used for turbines.

14.Cost analysis: the cost of per unit electricity generated for the consumers depends upon many factors. The fixed charged for power generation, the cost of interest, tax structure, the depreciation and other cost is included. However, there are many tariff methods for electric energy. The cost of power also varies for domestic, industrial electric energy.  

15.Feed water heater: A feedwater heater is a mechanical device used to pre-heat water delivered to a steam generating boiler. The energy extracted by the different stages this energy is used for heating feed water. Feed water heaters allow feed water to heat the saturation temperature.

16.Disposal: A large area is selected for the disposal the ash generated by coal combustion. The tons of ash is produced per month in an average size power plant. handling system is providing disposal far away from residential area. Sometimes the disposal areas provide poisonous gases and acids.

17.Power plant efficiency:  The thermal power plant efficiency depends on every overall performance. The energy of a thermal power plant not utilized in power production. the plant in the form of heat to the environment.

18.Water treatment: impurities directly reduce plant efficiency. the water consists minerals, salt, hardness hence it requires the various operation to the removal of undesired complexity. Sedimentation, filtrations, and deaerator operations are used for water treatment. 




19.Cooling towers: the cooling tower is heat rejection device which rejects heat directly to the atmosphere. A condenser is used for transferring the latent heat of steam to water. The purpose of cooling can be perfectly implemented by cooling towers. In power plants, hot water from the condenser is cooled in the cooling tower. it allows water and air to come in contact with each other in opposite direction.

20.Air filtration: the air filter is used to remove dust from air taken by the atmosphere. The power plant such as diesel power plant use fuel to air ratio for combustion hence air is used as raw material.
